The latest generation of LED digital message signs are extremely bright and they need to be regulated but the user in order to prevent distractions for night time drivers.
West Cost Signs recently installed a double faced 16mm Clearview LED sign in Clearwater, FL on busy Hwy 19. The sing looks great during normal daylight hours but is much too bright in the evening. Fortunately, the sign is equipped with an auto dimmer which is a photocell that detects the outside ambient light and dims or brightens the sign accordingly. The sign now runs at 30% brightness during the evening and about 80% brightness during the day.
The benefits of using the auto dimmer feature on your sign included 1. Fewer motorist complaints 2. Less power usage 3. extends the life of the digital led sign.

...that's right. LED electronic message signs offer the lowest cost per thousand impressions when compared to any and all types of advertising.
For example, the CPM for newspaper advertising is approximately $8.40. The CPM for radio is around $14 and for local TV it's $12.
Now consider the CPM for your LED digital message sign. Let's say you spend $30,000 on your new LED sign. And let's say that the sign has a life expectancy of 8 years. The amortized daily cost of the LED sign would be $10.27. Add $2 for electrical to run the sign and you get $12.27 per day. Lets say that your traffic count is 25,000 vehicles per day. That would give you a CPM of approximately $.50. That's right, fifty cents per 1,000 impressions - and that's counting drivers only - what about the additional impressions on passengers?
Let's go a step further....an ad in the paper, on the radio or on the TV requires add'l action by the potential customer - he or she needs to drive to your store. The customer you're reading with an LED sign is already in front of your store. Therefore, your quality of CPM is significantly higher than other forms...

West Coast Signs recently installed a new ClearView 16mm Full Color LED Message Sign for Patio Factory Super Center on US41 in Bradenton, FL. The job involved removing old box signs, replacing pan embossed sign faces and installing the LED faces which were hardwired into the supplied dedicated control computer. West Coast Signs also provided extensive training and content management for the first month of operation.

West Coast Signs has installed a 14mm Hi Res ClearView LED Sign for Dr. RX Weight Loss in Sarasota, FL. The doubled sided sign is bright enough to cut through the southern exposure of the Florida sun and utilizes an autodimmer which reduces the brightness in the evening so as not to distract drivers.
West Coast Signs also managed the content for the message center since the Feb, 2010 install.

WCS of Bradenton, FL recently completed the installation of an 18' high main ID sign with ClearView LED message center for the Fire College of Florida in Ocala, Marion County, Florida. The job was awarded to WCS after a lengthy bid process that evaluated expertise, experience and price. The new LED message center ties into the College's main network via 500 feet of fiber optic cable that was provided by WCS along with the transceivers.

Bradenton, FL based West Coast signs was recently awarded a bid to supply and install a color LED message sign at the City owned Sunken Gardens sign in St. Petersburg, FL. West Coast Signs beat out 15 other bidders for the project and received the LED Sign award after careful scrutiny by the City Purchasing Dept....
