Orlando Utilities Commission Dedicates Reliable Plaza

New Signs And Sculpture Lights The Way

OUC-The Reliable One® marked the official unveiling of Reliable Plaza, the utility’s new green downtown customer service and administration center.

The new 10-story facility at 100 West Anderson Street was designed and built to meet the Gold-level requirements for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. It uses 28 percent less energy and 40 percent less water than a similar facility built to standard building codes.

West Coast Signs was the sign contractor of record, completely managing, designing, fabricating, permitting and/or installing all exterior and interior signage for the new building. This single point of contact improved communication with OUC and Skanska, the general contractor, allowing West Coast to complete the project on time and under budget. The scope of the project included:

• Salvage and restore landmark OUC building signage and install on roof top of new Reliable Plaza. Refurbishment of these 9’6” channel letters afforded OUC significant savings over the cost of new construction. Restorations included repainting, replace transformers, and new neon lighting. Designed, Fabricated and installed in faucet logo on building with double stroke blue neon.
• Canopy signage and address marquee – designed, fabricated and installed 29” non-illuminated reverse channel letters. Post mounted lettering to the custom raceway canopy.
• The OUC Logo Monument sculpture marks the entrance to Reliable Plaza. West Coast Signs managed the design, production and installed this externally illuminated sculpture. This monument was constructed of alloy 304 stainless steel with 16 gauge stainless steel returns consisting of both mirror polish and brushed faces. 3’x3’ reinforced concrete footer was prepared for anchoring of sculpture.
• Interior signage- Oversaw management and installation of all interior building signage consisting of ADA, way finding, location signs.
